TV Unit Size Guide: The Right Length and Height for 43 to 85 Inch TVs
DecoraHubA TV is sold by its diagonal. A TV unit is sold by its length. The two numbers do not match, which is why so many units end up narrower than the screen above them. This guide converts TV sizes into the unit width, height and depth you need, using the real dimensions of DecoraHub TV units.
TV diagonal to unit width
A 16:9 screen is about 87 percent as wide as its diagonal. The unit should extend at least 6 inches past the screen on each side. Anything less looks top heavy, and a toddler or a cleaning cloth can reach the screen edge.

Which unit for which TV
- Up to 55 inch: The Meridian (60 x 14 x 18 in, ₹52,999), The Royal Aurelius (60 x 14 x 18 in, ₹54,999) and Elite Luxury (60 x 14 x 18 in, ₹54,999).
- 65 inch: The Ziva Royale (70 x 16 x 18 in, ₹57,999), Imperial Wooden Top (72 x 16 x 18 in, ₹62,999), Riva Marble Top (72 x 16 x 28 in, ₹62,999) and Orion Black Accent (72 x 16 x 28 in, ₹65,999).

Height: 18 inch or 28 inch
The centre of the screen should sit near seated eye level. On a sofa with a 17 inch seat, such as the Imperial Heritage Lounger, eye level is about 40 to 42 inches from the floor.
- TV standing on the unit. A 55 inch TV is about 27 inches tall with a short stand. On an 18 inch unit its centre lands near 33 inches, which is low. On a 28 inch unit such as Riva or Orion, the centre lands near 43 inches. Choose the 28 inch units when the TV stands on top.
- TV mounted on the wall. Mount the screen so its centre is at 42 inches. An 18 inch unit underneath leaves a clean gap for a soundbar. Meridian, Royal Aurelius, Ziva Royale and Imperial are the low units.
- Floor seating or very low loungers. Drop everything by 4 to 6 inches.
Depth and what goes inside
DecoraHub units are 14 to 16 inches deep. A set-top box, a router and a gaming console each need 8 to 11 inches plus 3 inches behind for cables and airflow. All of them fit. AV receivers are deeper, often 15 inches or more, and need the 16 inch units with the back panel cut for ventilation. Drawers hide remotes and chargers. Open shelves suit devices that use an infrared remote.

Measure from the wall to where the sofa back will be, then subtract the sofa depth. In a 10 x 12 ft living room with a 32 inch deep sofa, the viewing distance is about 8 ft. That suits a 65 inch TV on a 70 or 72 inch unit.
Wall width check
Leave at least 6 inches between each end of the unit and the side wall, a door frame or a partition. A 72 inch unit needs a wall of 7 ft or more. If the TV wall is being papered, choose a plain texture. The reasons are in wallpaper for drawing room.

Keep the centre table lower than the bottom edge of the screen so it does not block the view from a reclined seat. Match the unit top to the centre table top, marble with marble.
