Curved Sofas for Indian Living Rooms: Sizes, Room Fit and Prices

How much room a curve needs
A straight sofa sits flat against a wall. A curved sofa leaves a wedge of empty floor behind each end when pushed to a wall. It looks best pulled forward.
- Floating in the room. Allow 18 to 24 inches behind the sofa. With a 39 inch deep sofa, 18 inches to the centre table and a 30 inch walkway, the seating zone is about 10 ft deep. This suits living rooms of 12 x 14 ft and larger.
- Against a wall. It works when the sofa is a 2 seater. The 60 inch Serene Arc fits a 10 x 10 ft room or a bedroom seating corner.
- In a bay window or a rounded balcony wall. The curve follows the wall and no space is lost.
- Open halls. A curved back is finished on all sides, so it can face away from the dining area and act as a soft divider. A PVD partition behind it completes the separation.
Tables and carpets that suit a curve
A round or oval centre table follows the arc and keeps the same 18 inch gap along the whole seat. A rectangular table leaves the end seats too far from it. Round teapoy tables and nesting tables work for the same reason. The Premium Taupe Curve has metal accent tables built into its ends, so it needs no separate side tables.
Use a 6 x 9 ft carpet with the 9 ft side parallel to the sofa and the front legs resting on it. The carpet size guide has the measurements.
Velvet or bouclé
- Velvet on the Regent Grand Curve and Serene Arc has a sheen that shows the curve under evening light. It marks when brushed the wrong way and recovers when brushed back. Keep it out of direct afternoon sun.
- Bouclé on the Premium Taupe Curve is a looped weave that hides creases and minor stains. Pet claws can catch the loops.

Getting it into the flat
Curved sofas arrive pre-assembled and are harder to turn in a corridor than straight ones. The 90 inch models need a lift with a diagonal of 95 inches or more, or a staircase with high landings. Check with the method in Will the Sofa Fit? before ordering.
