A clock alone on a large wall should be about one quarter of the wall width. On a 10 ft wall that is 30 inches, which is where the arc shapes work better than a round face.

Hanging height

The centre of the clock belongs at 57 to 60 inches from the floor, the same gallery height as wall art. Above a sofa or console, leave 8 to 12 inches between the furniture top and the bottom of the clock. A clock hung near the ceiling is the most common error in Indian living rooms, and it makes the wall below look empty.

Matching the finish

Keep the clock frame in the same metal as the room's furniture bases. Gold with a gold PVD centre table or dining table base, black with black bases and grey floors. Fixing

  • Drill and plug. A 24 inch metal clock is too heavy for an adhesive hook on a putty-finished wall.
  • Check the hook position on the back before drilling. It is often an inch or two below the top edge.
