It contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel, giving it corrosion resistance that mild steel or Grade 202 stainless simply cannot match.
Why does this matter for a console table? Because Indian homes deal with humidity that European or American furniture was never designed for. A mild steel console frame with a gold electroplated finish will show rust spots within one monsoon season. The Marble Top: What You Are Actually Getting
Most online furniture sold as "marble" in India falls into one of three categories — and the distinction matters enormously for what you pay and what you live with.
Natural Marble
Quarried stone. Every slab has unique veining. It is porous, meaning spills can stain if not wiped within minutes. It is heavy - a 48-inch natural marble console top weighs 25–35 kg on its own. It develops a patina over years, which some homeowners love and others find ageing. It is also the most expensive option.
Composite Marble
Sometimes called engineered marble. It combines natural marble dust and chips with resin binders, then compresses them under heat. The result is a surface that looks and feels like natural marble but is more uniform in pattern, more resistant to staining, and lighter. This is the standard top material across our console range - and we specify it clearly on each product page.
Faux Marble / Paper Marble
An MDF or plywood board with a digitally printed marble-pattern laminate glued on top. It weighs very little, costs very little, and has no stone content whatsoever. Several large furniture brands in India sell paper marble consoles at ₹15,000-25,000 and label them as "marble finish." We do not sell this.
On request, we offer upgrades to natural Italian marble (Carrara, Calacatta, Statuario), natural Indian marble (Makrana White, Ambaji, Rajnagar), or onyx. Custom marble orders add 5–7 working days to production and 15–30% to the base price depending on the stone selected.

Marble Top Care
Wipe spills within a few minutes. Clean weekly with a soft damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use vinegar, lemon-based cleaners, or abrasive pads acidic substances dull the resin surface over time. Use coasters under terracotta pots, as they leach moisture and can leave rings on the surface.
SS304 PVD Frame Care
Dust with a dry microfiber cloth. For fingerprints on gold or rose gold finishes, dampen the cloth slightly with plain water and wipe dry immediately. Do not use metal polish, steel wool, or Brasso PVD is not a plating that needs "polishing." It is a molecular-level coating. Treating it like regular gold plating will damage it.
A well-maintained marble console table lasts 15–20 years with zero degradation in appearance. This is not disposable furniture.
